Better performance for wireless interconnection: Upgrades for battery-operated electronic locks

Offline locks have networking potential too. This is being demonstrated by Lehmann at interzum 2025 using a virtual network solution based on battery-operated locks. The advanced Captura neo MIFARE gives customers the benefit of significantly longer battery life. Thanks to modern system architecture in connecting up and communicating between lock and operating set, the new „M420“ provides even better security. In the „Pro“ version, the integrated NFC module makes it possible to configure a keypad or fingerprint module with particular speed and efficiency.

One lock type, including hardware and firmware for all control technologies: – that’s the concept behind the new „M420“ which succeeds the „M410“ with identical dimensions and unchanged battery type. The lock can either be combined with an RFID reader, keypad or fingerprint module.

The „Pro“ version, which follows on from the „M410 pro“, comes with an NFC module. This provides an easy way for facility managers to access the controls, such as the keypad or fingerprint sensor, for configuration using the Lehmann ‚Config app‘ – without the need for any inconvenient or additional programming devices.

Up to seven years on stand-by

Lehmann combines cost-efficiency and sustainability aspects in the „Captura neo“. A new technology for this lock, which is fully integrated in-the cabinet, extends the battery life by up to seven years. This results in significantly reduced maintenance work over the entire product lifecycle, saving costs in return.

The Lehmann transponder app – available for both Android smartphones and Apple iPhones – makes it possible to unlock and lock the „Captura neo MIFARE“ via NFC. The app also provides access to additional user functions.

Battery-operated locks are being used on an ever-increasing scale whenever there is no way or wish to physically interconnect locks due to a lack of infrastructure. However, economic reasons may also speak in favour of their use.
