SICAM, Pordenone, 16 – 19 October 2018

Seven days, four people – one cabinet: Modularity is what makes Kesseböhmer’s ‘Tandem’ range a real all-rounder

Kesseböhmer will be demonstrating exactly how opening a kitchen cabinet can have the wow factor at Sicam 2018 in Pordenone. After all, ‘Tandem’ is one of the focal points of this year’s trade fair appearance. The name refers to the intelligent two-part pull-out technology, which provides the user with not only a distinctive opening experience, but also a complete overview and convenient access to all supplies at the same time. As a ‘supermarket shelf at home’, the ‘Tandem’ can accommodate a week’s worth of shopping for a family of four.

A well-sectioned cabinet offers twice the organisation. The two parts of the ‘Tandem’ fitting for door shelves and shelving units coupled with single-handed operation were based on the refrigerator concept. What’s more, all elements of the ‘Tandem’ fit together in a constant, flowing motion: opening the door causes the front shelf to swing open along with it, while the rear shelf levels gently advance towards the user. It’s quite an emotional moment to see such functionality that goes above and beyond the refrigerator concept.

‘Tandem’ transforms a conventional cabinet into two clear shelving units, which offer a 100% better overview compared to a tall cabinet unit with drawers or pull-out shelves. Kesseböhmer will be using a realistically filled shopping trolley at the trade fair to demonstrate that the ‘Tandem’ really can accommodate a week’s worth of shopping for a family of four.

Tiered storage space organisation

The modular design of the ‘Tandem’ offers real advantages for kitchen manufacturers as it allows them to create finely tiered options for storage space organisation in terms of both price and value. SICAM provides the ideal platform for showcasing the diversity of this modular system, and so Kesseböhmer will be drawing direct comparisons between the three variations at the event. The door shelves and shelving units are all compatible with each other in this regard. Not only can they be used in combination with each other, but they can also be used separately and independently: either individually as a ‘Tandem side’ door shelf in four frame heights for with head clearances of 600 to 1700 mm, in combination with pull-out shelves, alone in the cabinet body without a door shelf as a ‘Tandem solo’ unit, or in a combination of the door shelf and accompanying cabinet solution. Three combination options, all of Kesseböhmer quality.

Kitchen manufacturers can decide how many levels to add to the base support in each case. They also have the option to choose between various ‘Arena’ shelving units or the freely positionable ‘YouboXx’ storage containers in various shapes and sizes. The heights of all shelving units and storage levels can be easily customised at any time, and the fitting elements can be hung or removed with just one hand.

Tandem for tall cabinets and base units

The ‘Tandem’ is available for both tall cabinets and base units, not to mention as a double-door ‘Depot’ option with a panoramic view. The ‘small’ swivel extension with the perfect layout is ideal for use in base units positioned directly beneath high-mounted electric appliances such as coffee machines, steamers, ovens or microwaves. What’s more, their dimensions also make them perfect for use in tall cabinets within the existing installation opening designed for refrigerators. So the right supplies are always where you need them. Keep everything you need for the coffee machine right where it’s needed within easy reach. Positioned directly underneath the coffee machine and right next to the refrigerator, you can now keep cups, sugar, milk and other accessories close at hand.
