Keeps tight: New adjustment technology for concealed entrance door hinge from BaSys

The „Masterband FX2 120 3-D CS“ is undergoing a radical change. Basys also shifts the side gap adjustment of the three-dimensionally adjustable hinge into the frame part. As a result, the tightness of exterior doors, which are particularly exposed to weathering and temperature fluctuations, is no longer negatively affected during adjustment.

At BAU 2015, the company presented with the „Masterband FX2 120 3-D CS“ for the first time a concealed door hinge for rebated entrance doors with 18 mm overlap and continuous seal in the leaf. When adjusting the side gap with a margin of plus/minus three millimetres, however, the seal in the leaf was sometimes displaced – with negative effects on the tightness which is essential for front doors.

Basys recognized the potential for optimization and shifted the side gap adjustment. In the new model, all three dimensions of adjustment – including the height adjustment and the pressure of the seal – are now located in the frame part of the hinge. The leaf part and the continuous seal enclosed by the hinge remain untouched during adjustment. Seen from the outside and with the door closed, the hinge remains concealed.

The optimized model replaces the existing one. Only the cut-out in the door frame needs to be recessed from 21 to 25 millimeters. The external dimensions and contours of the hinge remain the same.

In the category „Excellent Product Design – Building and Elements“ the “ Masterband FX2 120 3-D CS “ has already received one of the coveted „Winner“ awards at the German Design Award. It has a load-bearing capacity of 120 kilograms per pair, maintenance-free bearings and three-dimensional adjustment – recently without any negative effects on the tightness of the front door.
